CYJ (Cha-Yura-Jung) method for prediction of non-canonical Zn2+-binding sites
This web server provides a structure-based prediction method for identifying non-canonical zinc ion-binding sites in proteins. In this method, non-canonical zinc ion-binding sites are defined as local zinc-binding environments coordinated by only one or two protein residues. Candidate sites are evaluated by integrating first-shell coordination features with second-shell residue environments, which together characterize the local preference for zinc ion binding.
The prediction model was developed using a curated dataset of zinc ion-containing protein structures from the Protein Data Bank and applies a Bayesian inference-based framework to estimate the likelihood of non-canonical zinc ion coordination. By focusing on local structural features, this method aims to identify unconventional zinc ion-binding sites that may be overlooked by existing prediction approaches.
